Paul Gill
Paul Gill is a Professor of Security and Crime Science at University College London and serves as the Academic Advisor to the AETAP board. His research focuses on the behavioral aspects of radicalization and terrorism, particularly identifying risk and protective factors for violent extremism, evaluating risk assessment processes, and addressing insider threats. Paul currently manages projects funded by the European Research Council, the Home Office, and CREST.
His past work has examined terrorist behavior, including IED development, lone-actor terrorism, insider threats, domestic abuse, and school shootings. His doctoral research on the motivations behind suicide bombing won the Jean Blondel Prize for the best Ph.D. thesis in Political Science in Europe in 2010.
Paul has published extensively in leading academic journals, and his latest book on violent extremism risk assessment was published by University College London Press. He has briefed institutions like the White House, Europol, and the Norwegian Extremism Commission.
